Domitian was a Roman emperor who lived during the 1st century AD. He was the son of Vespasian, and the younger brother of Titus, whom he succeeded as emperor. Together, these three emperors form the Flavian Dynasty, which was established after the chaos of the Year of the Four Emperors. Domitian is remembered negatively by future generations, partly because the ancient sources were written by members of the empire’s aristocracy who hated the emperor.
“12th of the 12 Caesars". Domitian is remembered as the Caesar that didn't care about his people, and the envy he felt for his brother Titus.
It is said that those closest to him suffered the most. He was murdered in AD 96 during a palace coup orchestrated by members of the Senate, his wife, and possibly his successor Nerva.
