Why Order This VF Roman Empire Double Denarius of Claudius II from the South Petherton Hoard?
The Roman Empire is among the most studied societies in ancient history. The Empire itself lasted for centuries and today many of its events are still a point of interest. This Double Denarius was issued by the Roman Empire during the time of Claudius II. It is made of billon, which is a copper based alloy. The exact composition of billon can vary. Also, it should be noted that the specimen offered here is a hoard coin. It was found as a part of the South Petherton Hoard. This discovery was made in 2013 in Great Britain, the hoard contained thousands of ancient coins.
Claudius II
Claudius II was also known as Claudius Gothicus. He was Emperor of the Roman Empire from 268 to 270 AD. He is depicted on the obverse with a very tall crown. Inscriptions can be seen near the edge of the design.
Some inscriptions can also be found on the reverse. The central portion of this design shows a standing figure with a sword.
NGC VF
To have this ancient coin graded and encapsulated, it was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). The unbiased experts there assigned it the grade of Very Fine (VF). This specimen displays obvious wear, but many original details still remain.

If the product is not returned with all original packaging and bonus items, is incomplete, or is returned after the 30-day return period, the Company reserves the right not to accept the return or to accept the return subject to a 20% restocking fee, in the Company's sole discretion.
