Description
"In Enemy's Country" is an original antique calendar print by R. Atkinson Fox. R. Atkinson Fox (1860-1935) was a prolific illustrator of calendars, posters, postcards, picture puzzles, and advertising material from the late 1900s until about 1930. Naturalism was considered Fox's strength as a painter. He was especially admired for his paintings of landscape, horses, cows and mountains. Fox's work has been popular among collectors for decades, even spawning "The R.A. Fox Society", a group dedicated to his work."In Enemy's Country" features a lion and lioness perched on a rock at the top of a valley. Advertising features McCartney National Bank, Green Bay, Wisconsin and the calendar page is January 1922.
"In Enemy's Country" is 35" x 47" in total size and approximately 18” x 25” in image size. It is in good condition. There are vertical and horizontal folds through the middle with some tearing at the folds. There are creases in the corners and some wear along the edges. The colors on the print are in excellent condition, especially for being 100 years old!

He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the “Age of the Calendar” from1900-1960.
