    Description

This is a beautiful handmade dichroic, abstract kiln fused stained glass kaleidoscope
    was
designed and made by us, Lawrence and Audrey Goldsmith.
To create the kaleidoscope's decorative fused glass top piece, we cut many pieces of dichroic stained glass and kiln fused them in layers onto black fusible glass. It was the
n slumped (shaped over a form that we made) while being fused in our kiln
at approximately 1400 degrees.  It was then
annealed (slowly cooled in the kiln) for many hours.
The black piece on the bottom is signed and dated.  We then soldered the kiln fused top piece, to the black stained glass bottom. Our kaleidoscopes are original and no two are exactly the same.
It is approximately 9 inches long counting the disks. The sides are approximately 1 1/4 inches wide. We used non-lead solder for your safety and ours.
It has 2 solid brass axles and 2 kiln fused glass disks with many pieces of transparent stained glass and dichroic pieces. The disks spin independently. It has three excellent quality front surface mirrors inside and clear glass ends to keep out dust.
If your eye is not close to the kaleidoscope when you look through it, or photographed on most of my camera settings or placements, you may see the triangle frame around the image, but with your eye closer or your glasses off, the image is more full.
We are a husband and wife team working together in glass and separately on individual art pieces for over 35 years and our work is found in galleries, museum shops and gift shops. We have made kaleidoscopes since the 1980's when our kaleidoscopes were selected by the governor of Ohio as gifts for all the U.S. governors at the National Governors' Conference. We are members of Ohio Designer Craftsmen. Over the years, our work has been purchased by individuals throughout the United States and many foreign countries, and has been featured in museum shops, galleries, charity auctions and used as corporate gifts.
