Description
This is a nice small-sized calendar advertising Mentholatum. It has a type of "easel" on the back which does not appear to have ever been used, so it could stand on a desktop or tabletop, or be hung on the wall by the hole at the top. There does not appear to have been a grommet to reinforce the hole, and it is perfect, so wasn't ever hung up as far as I can tell.According to the Drugs.com website:
Mentholatum Ointment (for the skin) is a combination medicine used to relieve minor muscle or joint pain. Mentholatum Ointment may also be used as a chest rub to soothe chest congestion and relieve cough caused by the flu or common cold.
It is for the year 1918. Because of the late entry into World War I by the United States, this is one of the few "homefront" items I've had that ties to the idea of nursing during this era (although no mention of the war is made, I'm sure the association was made by many who saw this at the time).
The calendar pad is partial - beginning with the month of April. The pages run through February 1919.
Size: About 3-1/2 inches x 6-1/4 inches
Condition: Very good, light bend by calendar, visible on back but barely on front. Easel unused on back. Softened corners, some age discoloration. Really pretty artwork, great color, beautiful image.
